Skanderborg cheeky mascot with no pants Walther is his name, and if you have been attending the Skanderborg Festival for the past years, you are most certainly acquainted with the mascot Walther. He appears on websites, marketing brochures and flyers, posters and information in a number of platforms. The pantless hottie has for years been the symbol of Denmark's Most Beautiful Festival - ironically, because you can hardly call Walther a beauty.
At Bamsefabrikken we were contacted by the people behind Skanderborg festival who wanted a mascot costume, small stuffed toys as merchandise and other ideas. The starting point was this original illustration of the mascot Walther:
First in production came the mascot's costume, and it was shaped and modeled from the illustrations and older models of the mascot. Especially the mascot's hair was a challenge and we tested several possibilities. The Skanderborg Festival people followed the process through photos, and when we at one point hit all the right qualities which fitted the mascot Walther, we were not far from completing the mascot's costume. The costume is being extensively used each year before and during Skanderborg Festival, spreading the festival atmosphere.
The mascot character comes with a series of merchandise, and part of the Skanderborg merchandise assortment is a small stuffed toy version of Walther. Our talented plush toy artists went to the task with hard work, and we quickly presented Skanderborg Festival with a prototype of the Walther stuffed toy.
Details were determined and refined, and the final Walther stuffed toy was produced and delivered to our customer. The Walther stuffed toy is a popular souvenir to bring home from Skanderborg Festival, and a popular gift and premium. Read more about the production of stuffed toys and promotion plush toys here.
Additionally, Skanderborg Festival also had the mascot Walther produced as a great and lively puppet. There are big plans for the Walther puppet, which works well on TV and gives a completely different aspect to the figure. Read more about hand puppets and other puppets here.
The Walther mascot has so many physical expressions which makes the character come alive and hard to get around. The mascot Walther has become synonymous with the Skanderborg Festival and is used as the logo for the festival.
